G-Power Unveils BMW X5 Typhoon with 525HP Supercharged V8

For those that just can't wait for BMW to reveal the 'M' variant of the X5, G-POWER has unleashed its latest tuning proposal called Typhoon that is based on the X5 xDrive 48i featuring a 525HP supercharged V8 engine. G-POWER has also dressed the X5 with an 'in yer face' wide bodykit consisting of muscular fender flares that add 70mm to the X5's width, front and rear aprons and spoilers, rocker panels complete with LED lights and huge 23-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 315/25 ZR23 Michelin rubber.

Inside, the X5 Typhoon's cockpit can be upgraded with several accessories such as an ergonomically shaped sport steering wheel, a new speedometer and a number of aluminum parts.

Performance-wise, in cooperation with ASA Engineering, G-Power has developed a new supercharger system for the 4.8-liter V8 engine that has also been upgraded with a revised ECU and injectors, a two-piece carbon-fiber intake manifold with large free-flow cross sections and a high-performance exhaust system with racing catalysts and rear muffler. The result is an increase of 170HP over the factory V8 for a total output of 525HP at 6,100 rpm. Torque has also been boosted to 600 Nm at 5,300 rpm, up from 475 Nm.

According to G-Power, the heavily modified X5 Typhoon sprints from rest to 100 km/h (62mph) in a mere 5.0 seconds and reaches the 200km/h (124mph) mark after 18.4 seconds. The SUV's maximum speed is 275 km/h or 171mph.
